We are 4&1, a landscape architecture firm with unique ideals of what the profession is supposed to encompass. Four and One is a landscape architecture studio based in Tomball, Texas; and while you may forget our name, our goal is to create places that you will never forget. Please enjoy our collection of work.
At 4&1 we believe:
that creativity comes at all hours of the day and night
we learn best by experiencing the site directly as users
every project is unique and deserves focus and attention to even the smallest details
a project doesn’t end after construction (and a public job never ends)
most clients need someone to listen to them
and life is meant for living so do what you love.
With love in our hearts for landscape architecture, Four and One was established in a Houston living room in 2014 because the garage is just too hot in a Houston September.
4&1 is a small firm and has been referred to in multiple settings as “boutique” by clients. The love for quality and creative design drives the boat and at the end of the day we want what is best for our client and the project which means the same set of eyes on the project from the beginning, middle, and to the end. This carries the designer from concept to final construction to ensure the vision of the client doesn’t get lost from the desk to the field.
In 2015, thanks to Environmental Design, Inc., 4&1 opened their official office location. Located at EDI’s tree farm in Tomball, it is an amazing space for landscape architects. There is a front row seat to nursery stock of large canopy trees which helps inspire vision for projects on lunchtime walks.
Over the course of our professional years the people make up 4&1 have collaborated with teams of incredible designers and talented people to create some unique design throughout the world. 4&1 respects the fact that a quality project isn’t done by an individual it is done by a team of real people with different skills and even different views of a project.
Building relationships with other consultants and respecting all the unique skill sets they bring to a project as it relates to their professions is a guiding principle at 4&1. Ultimately it makes for a successful project if everyone is working together and looking out for each other.
